We’ve recently run a crowdfunding campaign to develop and improve the Rainbox Open Tools: new free and open source tools for film and animation production.
The campaign has ended in June, and we’ve raised 26.000€, 185% of the initial goal, which means we’re now able to develop very advanced tools!
There are a lot of things we can and we want to develop. What we’re going to achieve depends primarily on how much we have raised during this crowdfunding campaign. We’ve reached the level III, which means most of the features will be developed, and just a few more advanced tools will be more difficult or take more time to develop, those which were planned at level IV.
DuModraw: Modular drawing
Draw with patterns!
We’ll be able to develop DuModraw if we reach the second level of our crowdfunding campaign.
DuModraw started as an experiment by Duduf after a journey to Colombia and inspired by pre-colombian graphism. It’s an attempt to build a small application to draw images with modular patterns. The app is already working and very fun to use but needs to be finished before it’s available!
The idea is to draw anything in a grid, and the application will replace the path you draw with pre-designed modules, automatically choosing the one which fits the pattern you’ve drawn. It’s some kind of procedural drawing, and can be very useful when creating repetitive patterns, type faces, or anything which can be reduced to modular tiles.
